The Titan games series was an island-wide challenge series along the line of community services hosted by the Rotaract Club of Pearl Island. It was a challenge amongst youth community organizations to claim the 10 winning titles by doing meaningful community service projects within a time limit of 2 weeks. (14 days) Rotaract Club of Excellence formed a team of 15 members to take part in the Titan games series 2020.
Titan games kick-started on the 5th of September 2020 in the Dehiwala beach where the organizers had all the leaders from the teams participating together to explain the game procedures and to giveaway our Titans game official T-shirts and face masks. We had team meetings, meetups, and got together to plan on how we are going to do this challenge. We came up with many interesting ways to help our community.
We had just 14 days to plan, organize, and implement all our projects, which made it interesting and hectic at the same time. From managing time, allocation of members for separate projects, getting sponsors, getting approvals, and PR plan for each project was done in those few days. To top it all we also had many little challenges inside the challenge itself which threw us off guard. An introduction video, an after movie, and so on. But we pulled those off as well. Phew! It was an amazing experience with so many ups and downs.
We managed to pull off seven community service projects in those 14 days. Namely,
- Rise above the trash
- Hungry No More
- Meal Share
- Zero Waste
- Let’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle together
- Rise above the trash Phase 2
- Happy Tales
The best of all was seeing those happy and cheerful smiles on the faces of many people we got to help through this. Those smiles of satisfaction which no picture captured, those memories that are embedded in us forever. That was what we won as a community.
