During their stay in Gampola, Rtr. Dilanka Kumarasinghe visited most of the children’s homes to better understand each child’s background and to support the families in little ways he could. It was through one of these visits he came across this talented girl. Binsara was the sister of Nisanka who was a student of the grade 5 class which was being taught by Dilanka sir. He visited Nisanka’s family along with Rtr. Isuru after school, and that is when he met Nisanka’s sister, Binsara. At that time she was in grade 9 attending a different school which was located in the town. In a conversation that took place with Binsara, she mentioned that she writes කවි/පද්ය (Poems) as a hobby. She started writing කවි when she was quite small and naturally it became her hobby.
The next day she sent this book through her mom to be given to Rtr. Dilanka. The book was filled with කවි with topics ranging from the people who she admired, the beauty of nature, and many more. Amongst one of her work was a කවිය she wrote for the two sirs, Dilanka and Isuru named “අපේ ගුරුවරු”.
During one of Dilanka’s visits back to Colombo, with the consent of Binsara he brought the book along with him. His intent was to produce one of her songs as an acknowledgment of her talents and a motivator for her to pursue her talents. Rtr. Dilanka with the help of singer Mario Ananda produced the song “පොසොන් පොහොය” and published it on the 12th of March 2021. It is their humble wish to one day be able to cast Binsara in the visuals to give recognition for her great talents and to pave the way for her to pursue her passion.
