Skills have become a global currency in the 21st century. As technologies continue to evolve and business conditions shift, we must stay in learning mode, so our skills don’t lose value. Similarly, the recruiting and hiring process has changed drastically and the talent hunting in the corporate world has evolved considerably while virtual interviews are becoming commonplace in the process. What new skills you need to master next in order to reach your goals and how to confidently face a job interview and secure the job are challenging questions you have to handle in your life no matter what.
Project Pathfinder is an initiative intended on guiding youth to acquire new skills and competencies for the future in the new normal and guide you on pre-preparation for job interviews. It is jointly organized by the Rotaract Club of Excellence and Rotaract Club of University Alumni along with Interact Clubs of Ananda college, Nalanda college, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, and Colombo North.
The webinar was held in 2 sessions each conducted by two panelists with 30 minutes time allocation for each. The first session was conducted by Rtn. Dinali Dandeniya, an expert motivational speaker and corporate trainer on the topic “Skills needed post-Covid”. The second session was conducted by Rtn. Aashiq Aminuddin, a professional with diverse expertise in career coaching, motivational speaking, and counseling on the topic “How to Score at Interviews”. The question and answer session lasted for 30 minutes due to a large number of questions from the participants.
It was a genuine pleasure to witness more than 150 participants joined throughout the webinar and Interact Club members of the project also expressed their experience on Pathfinder with us.
“This project has provided us a new understanding of teamwork with Rotaractors and interactors. Furthermore, working on this project has allowed us to improve the ability to organize projects within this new normal. This opened a window of opportunity for us to perceive the ability to work collectively as well as project organization. We are truly fortunate to be a part of this project and to work with these amazing people. Thank you for this incredible opportunity and this amazing delight.” ~ Pahani ICGBV
“Pathfinder was a successful event that helped us to get an idea about the new normal and how to face challenges and how to build confidence during unprecedented times like this. The interview is a challenge every teenager faces when joining the corporate world. We gained sound knowledge on what an interview panel expects from a candidate and, we got a good idea about what industries/field will stand out in the future.” ~ Menura, ICAC
“It was a great experience for me. I got a chance to moderate for the first time! Not only that, but I also got to learn a lot by making posters as well. Honestly, this was one of those projects where everyone was so focused on making the project a success. Once again, it was great in all aspects. It was all the dedication and teamwork which paid off in the end. I am truly happy that I got to be a part of Pathfinder.” ~ Janithi, ICCN
