Excellence Open Mic was organized exclusively for the Club members to showcase their singing talent and have a fun-filled fellowship night. A great hype was created prior to the event where Club members sang a song and motivated others to join highlighting the fact that we are not professionals. Rtr. Sharker Shajahan was the first one to extend the invitation to everyone by signing a Bruno Mars Song and unexpectedly calling himself “Sharker Mars” and he was followed by many. Then the day and time came to start the virtual Voice of Excellence.
The session was hosted by Rtr. Mayuka Daham Pathirana and the floor was open for performers. It was Rtr. PP Navoda Welipitiyage who is very well known for his famous quote during the Installation Ceremony of the Club “Once a President and now an entertainment Item” started off the Open Mic. There were many surprise performances and this event really brought out the hidden talents of the Club members. I am sure everyone would accept that the most awaited performance was from our IPP, “Sharker Mars” and yes! he did live up to the expectation with his performance from different genres of music. Simply amazing! We also had some real professionals in the field such as Rtr. Nawod who joined all the way from Australia and rising YouTube star Nisini Nuhara who made the night even more happening! ps: Show was not recorded!
Rtr. Nisini Nuhara shares her experience of becoming a Rotaractor and the event!
Hey! I am Nisini Nuhara. A prospective member of the Rotaract Club of Excellence since 1st of November 2020. I’m a past Interactor of the Interact Club of St. Paul’s Girls’ School, Milagiriya. I was introduced to the Rotaract Club by Rtr. Ammar Adnan, a friend of mine whom I met through ILT (Interact Leadership Training 2017/18 batch).
First and foremost I am beyond grateful to be a part of this family. The warm welcome I received when I was introduced to the club just blew my heart. The thing that fascinates me a lot is the way how the fellow members collaborate during the projects, their attitude, and the opportunity given to the new members.
The first project I participated in was ‘Pathfinder’ where Rtn. Dinali Dandeiya shared her thoughts on “Skills required Post-Covid” which gave me immense insight about career and education. I would also say that I was able to clear my doubts and helped take a turn in some of my decisions.
Out of all the projects I participated in, the most interesting and mesmerizing event happens to be ‘Excellence Open Mic’ night. I consider myself as a born to sing person and this event just added more color to my passion for singing. This fun night is where I met new friends and got a chance to showcase my talents while enjoying what I always love to do. I would sing to heal. I believe that such events must be organized once in a while so that anyone would be able to get some relief breaking out from the monotonous lifestyle.
